Pro Fantasy Baseball 2006 Draft Report
Sleepers
2006 Fantasy Baseball Sleepers
Level A Sleepers  - These are either well-known, established fantasy players who are projected to do much better than their 2005 statistics or players who broke out last year and could be the new fantasy baseball studs. These players are expected to higher draft picks.
Level B Sleepers - They have shown potential in the past and this may be their year.
Level C Sleepers - These are either rookies or long shots that have no previous fantasy record but could start for your team and be star.
Potential - Just as the name implies. Potential to improve. The levels are for the type of sleeper, not their ratings or their potential. Most Level C Sleepers will have high potential numbers. The more established players usually have the least potential to grow, but they are not the least in value.
Level Player Pos Age Potential
B Adam LaRoche - Braves - The lefty played solid ball in 2004 and again in 2005. He is either going to breakout or continue to be a solid player, either way he isn't a bad late draft pick in some leagues. .259 - 20 HR's - 78 RBI's - 53 Runs - 451 at bats. Hit 55 doubles with 775 at bats in 2004 and 2005 combined . 1B 26 8.0
B Lance Niekro - Giants - Son of Joe Niekro went into a slump in the second half of the 2005 season. .252 - 12 HR's - 46 RBI's - 32 Runs. Has added weight and strength in the off season. 1B 27 8.6
B Casey Kotchman - Angels - The former #1 pick should start at 1B over Erstad. .278 - 7 HR's - 22 RBI's - 16 Runs - 126 at bats. The lefty has been rated the top prospect by Baseball America 3 of the last 4 years. 1B 23 9.3
B Mike Jacobs - Marlins - The big prospect will take over for Carlos Delgado. May see same action at catcher, but the hope fades if he hits like he did last year. .310 - 11 HR's - 23 RBI's - 19 runs. 2-time minor league player of the year.

B Richie Weeks - Brewers - Good combination of speed and power. If he blossoms he could be a 20HR, 30 SB player. .236 - 13 HR's - 42 RBI's - 56 Runs - 15 SB's - 360 at bats. Has surgery to repair his thumb which negatively affected his hitting in 2005. 2B 23 9.0
B J.J. Hardy - Brewers - Struggled early on as a rookie, but finished solid. .247 - 9 HR's - 50 RBI's - 46 Runs. Will start at shortstop. SS 23 9.2
B Edwin Encarnacion - Reds - Showed power but not much discipline striking out 60 times. .232 - 9 HR's - 31 RBI's - 25 Runs - 211 at bats. Will start at third base for a good Cincinnati line up. 3B 23 9.0
B Rocco Baldelli - Devil Rays - Missed all of 2005 with an injury. Signed a big contract so the team has confidence in him. 2004: .280 - 16 HR's - 74 RBI's - 79 Runs - 17 SB's. Could be a 20 HR - 20 SB player. OF 24 8.8
B Jonny Gomes - Devil Rays - Qualifies for the outfield, although he will start at DH for most of the season. .282 - 21 HR's - 54 RBI's - 61 Runs - 9 SB's - 348 at bats. One of many young stud-to-be's in the Tamp Bay line up. Looks like a possible 35 HR's - 15 SB's player. OF

B Brandon McCarthy - White Sox - Dominated down the playoff stretch after being recalled from Triple-A. 3 Wins - 2 Loss - 4.03 ERA - 48 K's - 67 innings. Should grab a start in the rotation and could shine. Finished 3-1 with a 1.91 ERA in his second call-up. SP 22 9.1
B Jae Seo - Dodgers - Pitched great after being called up for the Mets and since was traded to the Dodgers. 8 Wins - 2 Loss - 2.59 ERA - 59 K's - 90.1 innings. Moving to L.A. is always good for pitchers. He should win 15 if healthy. SP 28 9.2
B Kyle Davies - Braves - Big arm and talent, but will have to fight his way into the Brave starting rotation. 7 Wins - 6 Losses - 4.93 ERA - 62 K's - 87.2 innings. Big strikeout pitcher in the minors. Pitching in Atlanta is always good. SP 24 9.3
B Bobby Jenks - White Sox - Finished the end of the season as Chicago's closer. Then he pitched great in the playoffs. 6 Saves - 1 Wins - 1 Loss - 2.75 ERA - 50 K's - 32 innings. White Sox win a lot of games and close ones too. RP 26 9.0
B Chad Orvella - Devil Rays - Danny Baez was traded to the Dodgers and Orvella has the best shot at closing for Tampa Bay. 1 Save - 3 Wins - 3 Loss - 3.60 ERA - 43 K's - 50 innings. Tampa is much improved and don't forget, Baez had 41 saves in the same role. RP 25 9.1
