The rookie had a very good spring and will start at 1B.
He hit 16 home runs with just 174 at bats for AAA Fresno
in 2008. He added 3 more after being brought up to the Giants
with 95 at bats and batted .274.
Chris Duncan
- Cardinals
The year-after-year prospect is still just 27 and can
still swing the bat. His problem is staying healthy. He
is worth the ride while he is healthy and you never know,
this could be the year...could, but probably not. If so,
he could be good for 25-30 home runs.
Billy Butler
- Royals
He finished '08 hot by batting .319 with 5 home runs over
the last month. He makes a nice backup who has upside and
can start in some leagues.
Matt LaPorta
- Indians
He is down in the minors for now, but it is just a matter
of time before he gets the call. The 24-year-old was the
Brewers 1st pick (7th overall) in 2007 and was acquired
in the Sabathia trade. He batted .288 with 20 home runs
with 306 at bats in AA Hunstville in 2008. He is a natural
outfielder, but 1B may be his home in Cleveland.
