Round
1- 4 Review |
| Round
1: No major surprises
with Pujols going #1 followed by Alfonso Soriano
at #2. Team B said, "The #2 pick is a
tough decision, all though I couldn't go wrong.
I went with the best outfielder on the board
because outfield and 2B are the weakest positions."
Santana went #3 and Team C said, "He
is the only sure-thing starting pitcher in
my mind which makes him second to only Pujols."
Jose Reyes goes at pick 4 to Team D and said,
"A Roto-League dream, and a stud in any
style league." New fantasy stud, Ryan
Howard went fifth over Ortiz who went 6th.
Team E said, "It came down to position
eligibility to break what I thought was a
tie between the two. 3B Cabrera went with
the next pick. Team F said, "Ortiz may
be better, but Cabrera's position a and his
potential makes him a better pick to me. Ortiz
finally goes to Team G followed by Chase Utley
at the 8th spot. Team H said, "It is
hard to pick Utley in front of some fantasy
monsters, but he is the clear-cut #1 2B, and
he hangs with the big boys statistically."
Arod went #9 and the first round finished
with all-around fantasy stud, Carl Crawford.
|
| Round
2: Round 2 started with
a Lance Berkman. Team J said, "I am really
happy with Crawford & Berkman. I am done
drafting my outfield until the late rounds.
I like Berkman over Manny just because of
Manny's question marks, (age & attitude)
although it was really a coin flip."
Manny goes at #13 overall followed by Carlos
Beltran. Team H said, "I think Beltran
is overrated. He has been up and down in his
career and is no longer a 40-40 candidate.
I'll take a sure-thing stud in Ramirez. The
round went pretty much according to the player
rankings with no surprises. |
| Round
3: Round 3 began with
a surpries, the 2nd starting pitcher being
picked, Carlos Zambrano. Team A said, "It
is anybody's guess who the #2 pitcher is,
but with Zambrano's K's and the Cubs' offensive
improvements, I felt comfortable with my pick.
Bottomline is you need to look ahead and I
don't think many good starting pitchers will
be available when I pick again." Team
B pulled another surprise and selected closer
Francisco Rodriguez. Team B said, "I
am just worried about a closer run. I would
rather start it, than be at the end it and
I don't pick for a long time." Hoffman,
Rivera and B.J. Ryan both went soon in round
3 for the closer run. The round also saw SP
Chris Carpenter being taken as the third overall
pitcher. Team G said, "I had to get a
#1 pitcher now even though their were higher
ranked bats available." |
| Round
4: The selection of
Zambrano and Rodriguez in round 3 would begin
a run on pitching that continued in round
4 with the veteran starting pitcher Roy Halladay
going, followed by closer Joe Nathan and and
then starting pitcher Brandon Webb. Team F
said, "I am still uncertain about taking
Webb above Wagner & Putz, because I knew
the run on closers was on. I will have to
get the best closer available in round 5.
I do like Webb more than Oswalt, who was not
selected in first 4 rounds, because of his
potential and hey, he won the Cy Young." |
