He just turned twenty, so it may be years before we see
his true fantasy value, but a home run and a 3 for 9 start
in the big-leagues isn't too bad. He batted .429 with one
home run and two triples in Spring Training and was hitting
.376 with 1 home run, five triples, 20 runs, 20 RBI's and
four steals in 26 games at Double-A Tennessee. Castro might
be up for good, but is not likely to be handed the starting
job regardless of performance. You may have top pick him
up, nevertheless, and stick him on the bench if you want
him, but he is not the answer at shortstop at this point.
Aviles was projected to be a fantasy breakout in 2009
but a season-ending injury put an end to any hopes of that.
He played well in in 2010 Spring Training batting .471,
but was set down to the minors to get a little more work
and it has seemed to pay off for him. Aviles batted .325
with 10 home runs and 8 stolen bases with 419 at bats as
a rookie in 2008. He has 15-20 home run and 15-20 stolen
base potential.
Everth Cabrera
- Padres
In deep leagues Cabrera can help you out with stolen bases,
but not much else. He has the potential to bat around .280
and steal 45 bases.
