He took over for the injured Joe Crede and smashed 23
home runs with just 373 at bats, though he only batted .244.
The Sox may have to find a spot for the 25-year-old.
Yunel Escobar
- Braves
He can play 2B, SS & 3B, though he should start at
SS. He batted .326 with 5 home runs, 25 doubles & 5
stolen bases in 2007 with 319 at bats. Not too exciting,
but at 25 he has potential to improve and makes a great
back-up to put on your bench.
Brendan Ryan
- Cardinals
He qualifies at SS, 3B & 2B. He isn't starting yet
with the aqcuisitions of Izturis and Glaus, but as a 25-year-old
rookie he batted .289 with 4 home runs & 7 stolen bases
with 180 at bats and he could start somewhere by mid season.
Evan Longoria
- Rays
The third-overall pick in the 2006 draft and was a Baseball
America AA Minor League All-Star in 2007 when he batted
.307 with 21 home runs. The Rays have a young team and will
likely bring him up ASAP.
