1. Matt Capps, Nationals -
8-0-0.79-1.50-12 - BS/0 |
| Matt Capps is
ALIVE! Not only is he knocking down saves, but he's pitching
very well. |
2. Mariano Rivera, Yankees-

| Rivera had a quite week and no saves. |
3. Leo Nunez, Marlins - 4-1-0.00-0.72-10
BS/0 |
| Nunez has dominated in every appearance he has had
so far. At this point I'm along for the ride to see where it takes
me. |
4. David Aardsma, Mariners -
6-0-4.05-0.90-8 BS/1 |
| Aardsma blew his first save of the season and he
did it Aardsma style, BIG. |
5. Matt Lindstrom, Astros -
6-0-3.00-1.22-10 BS/0 |
| Lindstrom has been near lights out (note to Matt:
turn out the porch light). He added 3 saves this week and
lowered his ERA big time. |
6. Jon Rauch, 6-1-2.00-1.22-5 BS/1 |
| Blew a big save
this week and added none. Is this the beginning of the end
for Rauch? |
7. Joakim Soria, Royals
- 5-0-2.00-0.78-14 - BS/1 |
| Soria has been filthy the last week. He is
quickly rising to the top. |
8. Francisco Cordero, Reds -
7-1-2.79-1.45-10 - BS/1 |
| Cordero has been pitching his but off and added a
couple of saves this week. |
9. Brian Wilson, Giants - 4-0-0.00-0.82-9
- BS/0 |
| Wilson had two saves in the first two days and
then finally added two more this week. |
10. Kevin Gregg, Blue Jays -
5-1-1.69-0.56-6 BS/0 |
| Gregg lacked in activity this week, but get use to
that with the Blue Jays closer. |
11. Jose Valverde, Tigers -
5-0-1.12-1.00-4 - BS/1 |
| Valverde had a great week and is really catching a
grove with the Tigers, who by the way are winning. |
12. Carlos Marmol, Cubs -
3-0-0.93-0.93-19 - BS/1 |
| Marmol has looked like the Marmol of old with 14
strikeouts in 7.2 innings. |
13.Jonathan Papelbon, Red Sox
- 5-1-2.70-1.50-7 - BS/0 |
| Papelbon had a very good week adding two saves and
a win. He also increased his K's from 2 to 7.. |
14. Rafael Soriano, Braves -
4-1-2.57-1.14-6 - BS/0 |
| Soriano still isn't dominating and added no saves
this week. He did look better overall. |
15. Bobby Jenks, White Sox -
4-1-3.38-1.75-11
BS/0 |
| Jenks broke into
the top 20 with a great week that included two saves, no bar
fights, and he didn't go to any buffets. |
16. Heath Bell, Padres -
4-1-3.00-1.67-4 - BS/1 |
| Bell had a rocky week, but so far looks good. |
17.
Jonathan Broxton, Dodgers -
1-1-0.00-0.57-11 - BS/1 |
Broxton didn't get anymore save chances and his
drought continues. It is killing his value. For now. |
18. Ryan Franklin, Cardinals -
6-0-4.00-1.00-3 BS/0 |
| Mr. Lucky continues to pitch to contact and get
outs as a closer. Something is wrong with ninth inning
national league hitters. Eventually his road will end.
Till then, great job. |
19. Chris Perez, Indians -
4-0-4.05-1.65-3 BS/1 |
| Perez didn't work
much this week, but still lowered |

with three. This elite closer is back. |
20. Fernando Rodney, Angels -
5-2-3.60-0.80-7
BS/0 |
| Rodney might not
the closer, but his stats are still impressive enough to make the
list and who knows he may be the closer next week. |
| TOP 5 SETUP MEN |
| 1. Fernando Rodney, Twins . |
| You know the guy is good when he makes the top 20
closer power ranking and the top 5 setup men. At this point,
no setup is more valuable. |
| 2. Frank Francisco, Rangers |
| He is setting up Feliz and with Washington
watching Feliz's work load, Francisco would get plenty of save
chances over the season. That is assuming Francisco pitches
better. |
| 3. Matt Thornton, White Sox |
| Thornton has two wins, 16 Ks, and a 1.74. He
should be the closer, but we wait. |
| 4. LaTroy Hawkins, Brewers |
| Had a quite, strong week, but still has terrible
numbers and lacks the confidence of his manager Ed Yost.. |
| 5. Jason Frasor |
| Recorded a couple of holds this week, but overall
didn't look goof doing it. |
